The Sober Parrot

The Sober Parrot is a not for profit cafe, kitchen and dry bar owned and operated by The Nelson Trust. We provide a safe and inspirational space for our clients (who are in recovery from addiction), to come and volunteer with us. Here they learn new skills and gain experience in both the café and kitchen setting, that will help them gain employment once their time with us comes to an end.

"It has been a pleasure to work closely with Sarah and her team at the CCP community pantry. The work they do there is simply brilliant and provides such an essential service to the people they support. Every time I visit, I am always impressed by their personable approach, their kind nature and there desire to make a difference to people's lives. I am so glad we are able to supply our ready meals to the pantries and help CCP to provide this wonderful asset to Cheltenham."

How did you come across CCP?

Through working in partnership to support the provision of food in Cheltenham.

Describe how you have supported CCP in 2020-21

During lockdown, we began to provide nutritious frozen ready meals to the local community in Cheltenham that had been struggling hardest as the result of the pandemic.

Thankfully, with the support of #Feedcheltenham, we are still able to provide these meals and one of our community partners is CCP food pantry.

Since the beginning of the March 2020 lockdown, we have cooked, packed and delivered in excess of 5000 meals to the CCP pantry and will continue to do so.

We are proud of the friendship that has been created between our two organisations and long may it continue.
